Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin Jr. was born on 16th April, 1889 in London, England and died on 25th December, 1977 – he was 88 years old. He was mostly known as Charlie Chaplin. He was a great actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, composer and mime. He was dressed as a hobo. His parents were music-hall artists. His father, Charles Spencer Chaplin Sr. was a singer and an actor, his mother Hannah Chaplin was a singer and an actress.
In 1972 he won one Oscar for the best sound track for his film City Lights recorded in 1952. He also won one Oscar for the best original screenplay and best actor in The Great Dictator in 1940 which was the first Charlie Chaplin’s film recorded with speech. This film was also an act of rebellion against the German dictator Adolf Hitler and the Nazism.
